We’re delighted you’re interested in serving on our board. We are a diverse and passionate group of women who use our skills and experiences to give direction and support to the organization. We welcome all women, young and old, to apply especially those whose voices are typically underrepresented on non-profit and corporate boards.

Board Member Responsibilities
Board Purpose
To advise, govern, oversee policy and direction, and assist with the leadership and general promotion of the Center for Women & Democracy.
Board Commitments
The term length is two (2) years, which may be renewed up to a maximum of four (4) consecutive terms, pending approval of the board.
Attend a minimum of 50% of the monthly meetings annually. Meetings are monthly and typically last 90 minutes, with longer planning meetings/retreats 3-4 times a year.
Participation on at least one committee; committees have additional monthly meetings. Current committees are:

Women at the Capitol
Podcase Development
Fundraising
Leadership Institute
25th Anniversary Gala
Attend Center for Women & Democracy events.
Declare any potential or appearance of conflicts of interest and follow the conflict of interest and confidentiality policies.
Board Member Responsibilities
Members of the board share these responsibilities while acting in the interest of the Center for Women & Democracy. Each member is expected to make recommendations based on their experience and vantage point in the community.
Election and approval of the Executive Officers; President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary
Formulation and oversight of policies and procedures when needed
Financial management, including adoption and oversight of the annual budget
Review and approval of any annual, program, and/or event reports
Promote and support the organization with networking, fundraising, and promotion
Suggest possible nominees to the board who can make significant contributions to the work of CWD
